Description

I like the thought that the universe was created by music.
This painting fits my imagination very well, which I'm proud of - normally my images just don't get it right... I really like how this one turned out.

Took about 6-8 hours, photoshop only, no references. These hands were a pain...!

Feel free to criticise! :)

It's a very nice and interesting concept, but the hand position is a bit odd.

Which hand? He has two! ;-)
But I guess you mean his left hand - yes, a friend of mine said that, too, but I liked the dynamic as it was (my pictures usually tend to turn out far too static and stiff).

I love the idea of the swirling sound coming out from the flute :)
Agree with Mihai.

I also like the magical swirling from the flute :) I also like the flow of the hair. I guess ppl already mentioned the left hand, though I seriously don't know how to fix it. I'm learning hands myself. I think this is a delicate peaceful work. Very very nice :)

the arms look really awkward, but everything else is really good.

I especially love the dynamics of this picture - you see Mayan's fingers flowing, you see his intense concentration, you see the magic of the moment. Since I saw the painting with and without the Magic FX Swirl (tm), I can say much of that is achieved by exactly that idea.

I have to agree with the others about the hand position. Especially the left hand looks a bit akward. I guess it might be possible to hold it like that, but it looks very strained. I'm definitely no expert, but I think it's the angle between the forearm and the hand that makes for this problem - playing with his hand at this angle, he sure would be in more pain than you were while painting him ;).

I'm also not certain about the right arm. Would you be holding it back like that when playing a flute? Or is this just a question of the perspective? I think you would have to see more of that arm.

The haircut isn't really my thing, but who cares? And it does add to the exotic appearance, so maybe it's a useful detail.
